Mifflin County
The purpose of the Mifflin County Conservation District Dirt & Gravel Roads Program is to provide training, technical assistance, and funding to local road owning entities to mitigate stream pollution from dirt, gravel, and low volume roads. Since 1999 the District has worked with various local municipalities and partners on many different road projects in order to reduce maintenance needs, increase maintenance efficiency, improve water quality, reduce stormwater runoff, and to reduce erosion and sedimentation issues. Through the use of a multitude of environmentally sensitive maintenance practices over miles of road surface, the District is working with municipalities to provide a safer, more stable, and more environmentally friendly road system throughout our county.
