Monroe County
Sediment by volume is the largest pollutant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Monroe County Conservation District administers the Dirt and Gravel Road Pollution Prevention Program for the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission. This program provides funding and training to local municipalities to prevent sediment from entering Monroe County’s numerous streams and wetlands from inadequate dirt and gravel roads.
