Project Pictures
The following are before and after pictures of projects submitted by Conservation Districts.
Wyoming County (2009)

Unstable bank and blind corner were eliminated. New aggregate was placed.
Susquehanna County (2008)

Severely entrenched road was filled with 6-8′ of shale to achieve natural drainage.
Note the elevation of the road relative to the utility pole! Right ditch is gone.
Venango County (2007)

Road runoff ran down road and into stream at bridge. After project, a swale carries
drainage into the woods and the ditch is eliminated. New aggregate was placed.
Susquehanna County (2006)

A headwall was constructed around the stream pipe and direct
drainage was routed into a vegetated buffer instead of the stream.
Monroe County (2005)

Concrete pipe was reset at proper elevation and headwall and endwalls were constructed.
A high-water-bypass was made to allow water to flow over the road.
Lycoming County (2002)

Unnecessary berm and ditch on left were eliminated. New pipe and turnough in
right ditch before stream. Trees were selectively thinned. New aggregate was placed.
Huntingdon County (2001)

Entire road was raised ~ 5′ to eliminate ditches that drained 1,500′ of road runoff into stream.
Trees were selectively thinned. New culverts. New aggregate was placed. (2001)
