Basic Administrative training is required for Conservation District employees who administrate the DGLVR program at the county level. The “Advanced” Admin Training is geared towards any conservation district staff who have completed the original DGLVR Admin Training and wants more in-depth guidance and exercises on important administrative topics. The Financial training is an optional extension to the Administrative training and covers financial responsibilities in detail. Who Should Attend
- CD staff involved with Program: required (see below)
- Others involved in Program (Field Reps, etc.): encouraged
- QAB or District Board members: also invited
- Attendance by potential grant applicants (twps, etc.) is NOT encouraged.
General Course Information
- Basic Administrative Training will focus on details needed to run the Program at the CD: handling funds, administering projects, record keeping, understanding policies, Program forms, etc.
- Basic Administrative Training is required for conservation district staff person(s) most directly responsible for administering the Program.
- Advanced Administrative Training will focus on reviewing grant applications, project management skills, reviewing invoices, and filling out the completion report. This is accomplished through small group work and discussion with limited presentation.
- Advanced Administrative Training serves as the preferred recertification option for the Basic Administrative Training.
- Financial Training covers topics including DGLVR financial policy, tracking funds, GIS financial tools, reconciling the GIS and conservation district DGLVR accounts, budgeting and spending requirements, and the financial portion of Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QAQC) visits.
- Financial Training is not required but strongly recommended for CD staff who is responsible for DGLVR finances.
- Trainings will be given by both Center and SCC staff.
- CD staff who are involved with the DGLVR Program are required to maintain policy administrative certification, which expires after 3 years. You can maintain your certification by attending an Advanced Administrative Training (recommended) or retaking the Basic Administrative Training. You can check your current eligibility status via the Course Attendance Tracker.
- The courses are free, but registration is required.
